In the video above, you’ll see how software updates work on Andorid, iOS and Windows Phone 7.

In Android you’ll get a notification in the drop down notification area that an update is available to a title that you’ve downloaded from the Android Market. iOS will display a number on the App Store.app to let you know that an update is available. The iOS version sometimes display the wrong amount of updates, or after an software update the notification will not automatically go away. In Windows Phone 7 you’ll see the Marketplace live title added with the information of how many apps have been updated.

HTC Desire HDThe HTC Desire HD received today its first official firmware update. The new version number is 1.32.405.3, and can be obtained as an over-the-air update.

To download the update, do the following on your phone: Settings > About phone > System software updates. Doing this while on a WiFi connection is recommended since the update is quite large.

Users who update should see these changes, “screen control and photo message compatibility enhancements”.

Sony Ericsson has published the first official promo video showing the benefits of upgrading to Android 2.1. Even though there’s a text in the video that the update is available now, it isn’t. You still have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the Android 2.1 love for the XPERIA X10 series.

Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone

Engadget have gotten their hands on the real deal Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone that has been an on/off joke for the past year or so.

The device is said to come with a 1GHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, 1GB ROM, and a screen that will be between 3.7 to 4.1 inches. It’s said to run on Android Gingerbread (2.3), and come with Sony Ericsson’s own marketplace where they intend to sell games for the phone.

The Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone that Engadget received info on is still a prototype device, and according to them, very buggy. It’s also lacking a custom Android skin, which we know from the XPERIA range of  products is very cool. No word on when this one will be released, could be late 2010 or early 2011, or why not late 2011 too ;)

Google Nexus Two

Rumores of the Nexus Two went crazy last night when an article of Carphone Warehose UK was released. They say in the interview that they will get the second Google-branded phone in time for Christmas, and that it will run Gingerbread.

This would also mean a completely different strategy from Google’s point of view. They wouldn’t sell the phone themselves, but use a retailer instead.

THE SECOND Google-branded mobile phone will hit the UK in time for Christmas through an exclusive deal with Carphone Warehouse, City A.M. has learned.

Its predecessor, the Nexus One, is the flagship device for the search giant, which is desperately trying to wrest market share from Apple’s iPhone.

The deal with Carphone represents a major rethink of Google’s sales strategy, with the Nexus One released exclusively in the UK through Vodafone.

An industry source said: “It looks like Google is experimenting with the future of its mobile model in the UK. It tried releasing through a single carrier, now it is trying a single retailer.

“It could be a solution to the problems it experienced when it tried to sell the Nexus One exclusively through its website. People like to be able to go to a store – this solves that.”

Neither Carphone Warehouse or Google has commented on this rumor.

Android Market

It has previously been rumored that the Android Market would have passed 90,000 apps, but that appears to have been invalid. The AndroidDev twitter account has confirmed that the Android Market actually has hit the 100,000 apps milestone.

Here is what AndroidDev wrote on their official twitter account:

One hundred thousand apps in Android Market.

Graz to Android, and the Android Market’s success!
