If you’re looking for the ultimate social networking mobile phone, the HTC ChaCha is one of the best. This elegant Android piece of art features a full QWERTY keyboard and direct access to the Facebook community at the push of a single dedicated button. Sharing pictures and comments is now more convenient than ever. Whether you wish to “chat”, send emails at the speed of light, listen to music (most codecs are supported) or surf the web, everything is amazingly simple. The 5 megapixel integrated camera will give you the chance to turn yourself into an official reporter for your community. With this incredible object in your hand, you will feel connected with the world.

With 8.7mm at its thinnest part the (Sony Ericsson) Xperia Arc is a fine superslim mobile phone which attracts the eye and easily slips into the pocket. Featuring a 4.2-inch (10.7 cm) display LED backlighting and driven by a Bravia engine for optimized video and pictures playback. The Xperia Arc has video recording at 720p, LED flash and geo tagging. It is an Android v2.3 phone driven by an 1GHz processor. The device provides micro HDMI output not only to watch movies and photos on a television, but also mirroring it’s display at a larger screen.

Compal Electronics Inc Logo

Compal Electronics Inc. CEO, Ray Chen, told today at the company’s annual shareholders meeting that Compal signed an agreement with Microsoft to begin manufacturing Windows Phone devices. Compal will be a so called ODM, or Original Design Manufacturer, which means that they will manufacture phones that will carry a branding of an other company. The company will manufacture phones for both Acer and Nokia. The devices are expected to ship in Q4 2011.

“Compal will build up a foundation based on the WP7 platform that will enable it to shorten time to market for customized smartphones while expanding the pool of Windows Phone-based clients,” stated Chen at today’s meeting.

This means that Compal will be the one manufacturing Nokia’s first Windows Phone device. The reason why Nokia has decided not to manufacture these phones by themselves is most probably in the architecture needed to run the Windows Phone OS. Nokia has previously used silicon from Texas Instruments and their OMAP chips. Now with the move to Windows Phone, they need to start using silicon designed and manufactured by Qualcomm. Nokia’s hardware manufacturing plants don’t currently have the required Qualcomm experience.

Only a fwe weeks ago we were presented with the idea that Acer would enter the Windows Phone business. Today, at Computex Taipei Exhibition, their first Windows Phone, called the W4, was announced. Since this device is running Windows Phone 7.1 Mango, we’re expecting to see this hit stores in September or later.

The Acer W4 comes with the following specs:

  • 3.6-inch WVGA
  • Screen Resolution: 480×800
  • 5mp Camera with auto-focus
  • HSPA 850/1900 or 900/2100 /GSM quad band 850/900/ 1800/ 1900 MHz Support
  • Qualcomm MSM8255 running at 1GHz
  • Wifi, Bluetooth 2.1
  • DLNA Support (DMC)
  • Windows Phone Mango
  • 8GB Storage

Acer was not on the original launch partners list of Windows Phone 7. Now it seems that they are in fact working on getting a device that runs on Windows Phone 7. Acer’s CEO, Gianfranco Lanci, had the following to say:

Smartphones – we want them to become big. Today we are mainly Android, but we are also working on Windows Phone 7.

Unfortunately we don’t have you a time frame on when this could be released, but it is at least interesting to know that there will be a new WP7 manufacturer in the game.

This isn’t the comparison we wrote about a few weeks ago(the one with the accuracy test), but a HD-video test where you see the quality on six different Android phones. Phones included in this test: T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, HTC Hero, Motorola Milestone / Droid, Acer Liquid, Google Nexus One and Samsung Galaxy.

Check out the video after the break and decide for yourself.

Acer’s first mobilephone, the Acer A1 a.k.a Liquid, will be released in UK later this month.

The phone will run on a customized version of Android, with Acer’s own Liquid UI on top of it. The CPU will be a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon underclocked to 768MHz for power saving. There will also be a 3.5″ capacitive touch screen, 512MB of ROM, 256 of RAM, a 5MP camera, A-GPS, WiFi, 3G and have a 1,350 mAH battery. Pre-loaded in the phone will come a 2GB microSD card.

Acer’s Liquid just got a speed-downgrade. It has earlier been rumored that it will come with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, but the image above states that it will only run at 768MHz. It is most probably the same CPU(Qualcomm Snapdragon), but it will just run on a lower clock-speed. This is normally done to lower the power consumption, and to make the processor run a little cooler.
