MobileSyrup has managed to grab an image of a device called the Samsung Hercules. They grabbed the image at a mobile event somewhere in Canada. The device is much like the Galaxy S II, but with some improvements.

The screen has gained 0,2″ in size when compared to the SII, meaning the Hercules comes with a massive 4.5-inch screen! The Hercules is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, which is the same as in the SII. The earlier leak suggested we’d see a dual-core CPU running at a speed of 1.5GHz.  The back will have a 8-megapixel camera, while the front camera is 2-megapixel. Another big upgrade is super fast DC-HSDPA radio that supports data transfer rates up to 42Mbps.

Here’s a video showing you the new and improved features of the Games Hub in Windows Phone Mango.

Windows Phone developers aware! The Silverlight Toolkit will get a Mango update sometime in August. The Silverlight Toolkit has been used in many Windows Phone applications (and Silverlight applications) to make them more smooth and functional. Components like the LongListSelector and PerformanceProgressBar can be seen in almost every Windows Phone Silverlight application out there. Its good to see that a Mango refresh is also on its way of the toolkit. Stay tuned for more news on when this is actually available.

Nokia Siemens Networks announced today that they will cut 1,500 jobs from the former Motorola Solutions unit they acquired earlier in the year. The jobs will be cut from their GSM and WiMAX divisions. Some employees have been offered jobs elsewhere in the organization.

Nokia New Zealand posted an interesting new banner on their page. They quite clearly show that the Symbian Anna update is now live and kicking.

However, the release of this has yet to happen. Could the banner be a sign that the update is in fact right around the corner, and will he released in the coming few hours/days?

Has anyone received the update yet? Please leave a comment if you have!

The Swipe page over at Nokia Sweden has now a countdown to when the Nokia N9 will be released. At the time of writing this post we have 49 days and 2 hours left till the release. This means that the Nokia N9 will go on sale in Sweden on August 23, at 9:00 a.m.

Will this date be a global launch, or is Sweden not in the first batch to get it? We’ll post more info when other countries join the countdown.

Microsoft is really making an effort with Windows Phone and the development of coming updates to it. We’re right around the corner of the official Mango release to end users, but that hasn’t of course stopped Microsoft on working on the following updates. We’ve been told that Windows Phone Tango is the next update after the fall Mango update. The Tango update is rumored to be released in spring 2012, and the Apollo update should come in fall 2012.

Now, an alleged screen shot of Tang build 8200 has leaked on a Slovakian forum. The post made by a forum user called Snake shows a local search feature. This would allow the user to search locally on the phone before doing the same search on the internet. The local search would tackle at least email, SMS, Zune, and Facebook. LinkedIn support was not found in this build.

Nokia N9 MeeGo

We’re hearing some interesting news from a Nokia N9 preview event in Malaysia. According to a Nokia spokesperson, we’ll see the Nokia N9 hit Malaysian shores in “just a few weeks” time.

Loywat reports the following on the subject:

In a preview session with member of the media earlier today, Nokia Malaysia has confirmed that their newMeeGo-based smartphone – the N9 - will be meeting the Malaysian consumers in just few weeks time

This of course isn’t a definite date, but let’s hope it will in fact be released in August!
