Apple’s new Lightning cable has an Authentication chip rendering replicas useless

Eldar Murtazin just wrote on Twitter that Apple’s new Lightning cable has an authentication chip to make cheap cable replicas useless. The iPhone 5 will only sync with Lightning cables that use the authentication chip. Another prime example of how Apple uses money to make even more money. This way the Lightning cables cost Apple more to manufacture, but will also force the user to turn to Apple manufactured replacement cables that cost $30, and not $2 like they do when ordered from China.
