iPhone 5 Sunspider Javascript Benchmark 0.9.1

The first iPhone 5 reviews and benchmarks are appearing all over the internet. AnandTech published the first SunSpider Javascript Benchmark for the iPhone 5. And boy does it crunch Javascript code! The iPhone 5 is the first to hit three digits, by crunching the test code in 914.7ms. For comparison, the international (quad-core) Samsung Galaxy S III needed 1442.9ms with the stock browser. The iPhone 4S managed to crunch the code in 2250ms, while the iPhone 4 did it in 3545ms.

Sunspider Javascript Benchmark 0.9.1 is used to measure web browser performance. Given that this is one of the most important features in today’s smartphones, a low value in the test usually means a better device. AnandTech notes that the great performance of the iPhone 5 is likely a reflection of the improved memory subsystem of the Apple A6 SoC.
