Nokia releasing new firmwares to 14 'older' Symbian 3.2 and 5.0 devices
Nokia today announced that they will begin a big firmware update roll-out for a selection of ‘older’ devices. The oldest device on the list is the Nokia 5800, which was released in April, 2008, making it over three years old! The update will bring the new browser found in Symbian Anna to the devices eligible for the update. Also a new version of Ovi Maps will hit the devices in question.
What other company has released an update to a phone that is over three years old? Amazing job, Nokia!
The following devices will get updated:
Symbian 3.2
- Nokia E72
- Nokia E52
- Nokia E5
- Nokia C5-00
- Nokia 6700 slide
Symbian 5.0
- Nokia C6-00
- Nokia C5-03
- Nokia 5230
- Nokia 5235
- Nokia 5250
- Nokia X6
- Nokia N97 mini
- Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
- Nokia 5530 XpressMusic
The rollout will begin today for the Nokia 5800 and the Nokia C6-00. Other devices will receive it in the coming few weeks. Keep in mind that the update will be rolled out in different areas at a different time, so even though the Nokia 5800 update is released today, it is possible that you will not receive it in the first batch of updates.
