Nokia E71 Firmware Version 500.21.009 Released – Changelog Inside

Nokia E71 - White

Together with the N97, N97 mini, 6700, Nokia continued with yet another firmware update today. The Nokia E71 firmware update, version 500.21.009, is a fairly big update. The biggest new feature is the free voice navigation. The update will be available via NSU (Nokia Sotware Updater). Remember that the E71 doesn’t have UDP, so you need to make a full backup of your system before proceeding.

NEW FUNTIONALITIES:
Following baselines/functionalities have been upgraded.

  • Maps 3.03 Lite which has Free Navigation support
  • Music Player upgrade
  • Quick Office v6.2 which has Office 2007 support
  • Ovi Store upgraded to 1.6.0.18 and Download! Removed
  • Lotus Notes traveler v8.5.1 -> Localization support is present only for 10 languages.

  • Windows Live removed from the memory card
  • Ovi Suite included in Memory card
  • CS Helps baseline upgraded to fix localization issues
  • Start Up settings baseline upgraded

  • Emergency call termination with RSK key corrected
  • Corrected Bluetooth link drop when an outgoing call is made in a carkit

  • Fix for Israel written instead of Jerusalem in World Clock
  • Corrected Argentina names issue in World Clock
  • Corrected localization issues in world clock

BROWSER

  • CMCC Java application download corrected
  • Fix provided for accessing a link that has appended space characters

EMAIL

  • Fix provided for selecting desired mailbox when multiple mailboxes are configured

QWERTY KEYBOARD

  • Key mapping issues fixed

MESSAGING

  • Nokia IM chat: Localization support provided for Malay and Indonesian languages

    Hi? after updating the firmware, i can no longer use the same access point i used. webpage shows error 503. i manually entered the access point before and it worked well. but now, it’s all different! how can i fix this?

      Hi there! Error 503 shouldn’t be caused by your E71.
      Error code 503 is a general HTTP error shown when the webpage you’re trying to access is overloaded or down for maintenance. You could maybe try resetting your access point?

    Hi, after upgrading E71 FW to 500.21.009 camera application became “blind”, e.g. nothing is seen on display, and central button does not work as a shot. Similarly video.

    Since upgrading the phone keep restarting by itself, (Displays the Switch off! menu and then blinks and restarts) after reseting it {*#7370#} it seems better, however i can’t turn off my mobile now, Turning off the mobile would just restart it…
    Wireless AP and Camera seems fine for me

      PLZ CHANGE THE SIM. I ALSO HAVE SAME PROB. BUT ONE MORE PROB… THE BATTERY DRAIN OUT LIKE ANYTHING

    Weird bugs this update has brought you.

    Another bug here. Keypad auto lock will not stay turned off when the phone lock (password) is turned on.

    Previously, I could just type my password to enter the phone when the keypad auto lock period was set to none, and the phone auto lock period was set to one minute.

    After the upgrade, I must first unlock my phone with * + menu, then enter the password. This despite the fact that autolock keypad is set to none. Annoying.

    Don’t upgrade.

    I live in Nigeria and own an E71. Every time I try upgrading, I always get this response that the firmware I have (v3) is the latest. What can I do to upgrade?
