Samsung today presented the world’s first 3D-capable smartphone.

The Samsung SCH-W960 will come with a 3.2″ AMOLED 3D capacitive touch display with WQVGA resolution, 3.2MP auto-focus camera, CDMA, 3G with HSPA, DMB-T TV tuner, BlueTooth and a microSD card slot. The phone will run on Samsung TouchWiz 2.0. It will have a button for enabling/disabling the 3D feature, and it doesn’t require special glasses for the 3D effect.

The W960 will be available during this quarter, and will be limited for Korea only. A few more pictures after the break.

Apple could be currently working on a free MobileMe plan. Currently, Apple’s Mobile Me service is $99 a year. With that price, you get 20GB of cloud storage room for files, calendar, contacts and emails, and a @me.com email address. MobileMe will let you sync files with your iPhone/iPad/Mac/PC.

No timeframe was given for MobileMe to go free, other than: “sooner than later… depends on certain facilities going operational.”

Maybe Apple will use its new massive Data Center they’re building in North Carolina for this?

We are happy to announce a beta release of the bada SDK, Samsung’s new open mobile platform. With this release, you can create your own applications. These applications can be deployed and tested on the Wave phone, which is Samsung’s first bada-powered device.

The SDK includes several components: an integrated development environment (IDE), Simulator, UI builder, sample applications, documentation and tutorials. Samsung bada’s IDE is based on the Eclipse CDT (C/C++ Development Tools), which is a popular development environment used by many mobile developers. The Simulator provides a local test environment without the need for a physical handset.

Aalto University has conducted a study of what mobile phones Finns use. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Nokia is a clear winner, with a share of 88.7%. The most popular phone is the Nokia 2760, with a share of 4.7%. The newer Nokia 3120 Classic comes in at second with a share of 4.1%. The first smartphone, Nokia E51, is at 10th place with a share of 2.0%.

These stats are based on actual usage numbers, that Aalto University gathered from mobile network operators in Finland. Apple’s iPhone is missing from this list, since Sonera didn’t want to go public with their iPhone sales.

What do we have here!? Android running on iPhone 3G! A few weeks ago we got a massive amount of visitors reading instructions on how to install iDroid on the first generation iPhone, and now I’m happy to tell that there is a 3G version waiting behind the door.

Only audio support is currently lacking from this release, so basically you can send and receive SMS messages but you won’t be able to make calls.

Next up is audio support–we’ve already laid the groundwork for audio support on the 3G and gotten it working in our homemade bootloader, so support for audio in Linux/Android will be coming in a few days.

A few days ago we posted about a leaked Sprint document stating that their HTC Hero would see the long awaited update to Android 2.1.

Today, we have bad news for you again. Sprint’s forum admin has now removed the post where this info appeared, and commented it as follows: “Closing this thread because I don’t want folks to think that 2.1 is coming out on the 7th.”. So there it is, highly possible that we won’t see Sprint’s HTC Hero updated to Android 2.1 today.

RustyGrom over at XDA-developers forums has done some digging in the new Windows Phone 7 emulator image, and found evidence of a possible copy and paste solution.

Just found this in officeres.dll from the dumped emulator….

 ± S e l e c t A l l P a s t e C o p y C u t € U n d o

and

&@D o n e ‘@C a n c e l  C o p y / P a s t e 9@S e l e c t T e x t € @P a s t e &@ € ‘@

and

@C o p y @C u t B@D e l e t e @S e l e c t A l l € -@C l o s e @ € -@

and more. Definitely seems like some sort of copy/paste is supported in the office apps or at least was planned at one time.

This was found in the Officeres.dll file, and is clear evidence of a possible copy/paste solution in the Office app of Windows Phone 7.

Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference has been sold out in just 8 days.  WWDC will take place June 7-11, and will heavily focus on the iPhone OS. Apple is also expected to release the next generation iPhone at this event.
