It has been a really iPhone leak rich weekend, and the debate goes on today. Engadget posted a few days ago a set of pictures of what they claimed to be the next generation iPhone. After that, the images were said to be taken of a Japanese counterfeit, and today there is evidence about these images again being authentic again!

Daring Fireball’s John Grubes has dug up an Apple patent from year 2006 about a ceramic/glass material that is radio friendly. Metals don’t usually tend to let radio waves go though them, and this is the reason why we haven’t seen a unibody/aluminum iPhone. The ceramic/glass material on the back, and in the pictures, would allow us to have a user replaceable battery.

The sim card holder on the side appears to be a microSIM slot(same card as the 3G iPad is using).

We earlier today wrote that images of the next generation iPhone are circling the web.

Applesfera has now received info from a reader that the phone in the images is a fake. The phone in the pictures is actually a Japanese counterfeit.

Engadget has found an iPhone laying around in a bar in San Jose. OK that sounds stupid, but skip to the real point! This could in fact be the next iPhone generation, or maybe a prototype to see if the hardware is working. The phone has a front-facing camera and 80GB storage. You can find the normal Apple markings on the back of the phone, which would indicate that this is something from Apple’s lab.

What makes this even more interesting, is that this new found phone is almost an exact copy of a phone that was circling the internet. That time the pic was found on some chinese forum, and grabbed by a tweeter.

More pictures after the break.

The Nokia 5330 Mobile TV edition phone went on sale today in Finland. The DVB-H equipped phone also comes with a nice 2.4″ QVGA screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD slot(1GB card pre-installed), 3,5mm headphone jack and a 1,000 mAh battery. With a full charge you’ll be able to watch TV for over 5 hours or listen to music for over 30 hours. All this is run on top of Symbian S40.

I had a quick run with the phone yesterday, and was quite impressed by the sound that the speaker produced. The picture quality is also good. The only downside of the phone in my opinion is the keyboard. It just doesn’t feel right. Separated keys would have worked better.

For the Mobile TV feature to work correctly, you need to plug in the headphones that came with the phone, and you also need a subscription to a Mobile TV service. Here in Finland the only operator that currently supports it is DNA Finland, and they charge 7.90€ a month for it.

The phone retails currently at 155€ before taxes or subsidies.

Check out the other pictures after the break.

Engadget has received information indicating that we will see the next iPhone generation(iPhone HD?) in June. This would make sense, since Apple has released a new version in June for the past three summers.

This is what Robert Watson, CEO of SaskTel had this to say:

The good news is that (Apple) is coming out with a new version of the iPhone in the June time-frame and they’re going to put us on that. So we’re quite excited about that.
