Apple testing next generation iPhone

According to Macrumors, the next generation iPhone has surfaced on usage stats of the famous iBART app. This is about the same time that new iPhones have been put into field test, when scheduled for a summer release. The new version number is “iPhone3,1″, which hints of a bigger hardware update. The first iPhone was “iPhone1,1″, the iPhone 3G was “iPhone1,2″ and the iPhone 3GS was “iPhone2,1″. The 3G was hardware wise almost the same as the first iPhone. The iPhone 3GS was a big update to the hardware, where the processor architecture changed to ARM Cortex A9 CPU.
Steve Jobs told recently to New York Times, “PA Semi is going to do system-on-chips for iPhones and iPods.” Maybe this update will bring PA Semi onboard the iPhone?
