Samsung S8000 firmware updated

samsung_jet_s8000Samsung’s S8000, a.k.a. Jet, received an update to its firmware today. This brings the version up to S8000XEII2.

The new firmware is actually quite a big update. For instance the 3D-cube view got a new background, a few new widgets were added (Twitter, MySpace, Facebook) and also a renewed TouchWiz UI. Apart from these and a speed improvement, the browser, gallery and media player got updated. For instance, the media player now supports a cover-flow like feature, that will let you shuffle through covers in a horizontal mode.

The update can’t yet be downloaded though Samsung’s own PC Studio software, but you can download it for instance from this forum. Another option would be that you take your phone to a Samsung authorized service.
