nokia_n920_nokiaportde_leak

Nokia will only release one phone running on the Linux based Maemo operating system next year.

Nokia N900 that was released a few weeks ago, is running on Maemo 5, and the next version will be logically called Maemo 6. Maemo 6 is rumored to be the first “final” release of Maemo, which means that Maemo 5 is basically just a beta release. Maemo 6 is rumored to be released next summer, and this will most probably be also the release date of the phone in question.

About a month ago there were rumors circulating the web about a possible Nokia N920(seen in the image above). It will possibly come with a 4.13″ capacitive touch screen, and Maemo 6.

iphoneparody

According to Macrumors, the next generation iPhone has surfaced on usage stats of the famous iBART app.  This is about the same time that new iPhones have been put into field test, when scheduled for a summer release. The new version number is “iPhone3,1″, which hints of a bigger hardware update. The first iPhone was “iPhone1,1″, the iPhone 3G was “iPhone1,2″ and the iPhone 3GS was “iPhone2,1″. The 3G was hardware wise almost the same as the first iPhone. The iPhone 3GS was a big update to the hardware, where the processor architecture changed to ARM Cortex A9 CPU.

Steve Jobs told recently to New York Times, “PA Semi is going to do system-on-chips for iPhones and iPods.” Maybe this update will bring PA Semi onboard the iPhone?

multifl0w-cap

Here is a thing that Apple should copy, multifl0w for iPhone. Multifl0w will make it possible to run applications in the background on an iPhone, a feature that Apple hasn’t added to the iPhone for what they call energy consumption reasons. The only problem is, that every other platform supports multitasking in some way, and the iPhone OS doesn’t. Thanks to the jailbreaking community, it is possible to multitask on an iPhone. multifl0w turns your iPhone into a multitasking device, with an interface that resembles the one seen on a Palm Pre.

Check out the video and download instructions after the break.

htc_hero_android_2_1

A leaked image shows Android 2.1 running on a HTC Hero. It’s possible that HTC will skip the 2.0 update, and jump straight to 2.1. This is also good news for other models running on a Qualcomm 528MHz processor, since the firmware can most probably be hacked to run on those phones.

nissan-clear-scratch-guard

Nissan is about to license their Scratch Shield paint to the Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo. The Scratch Shield doesn’t scratch as easily as a normal paint would, and it is even able to heal minor scratches on its own. This is due to the paint itself being a little flexible, just like paint that isn’t dry after applying it. According to Nissans’s press release, this thing can heal 80% of minor scratches.

No word yet on what phones will get this, or if it will be licensed to other manufacturers.

nokia-e66-mobile-phone

The Nokia E66 also today received an update, that pumps up the numbering to v400.21.013. No change log is available at the moment, but I guess that the update is familiar with the E71 update that I wrote about in the previous post.

Use NSU to update your phone(and do not forget to backup your phone before that).

nokia_e71_new_pic

The Nokia E71 today got a new firmware update, and this time around it is a major update. This brings both new applications and bug fixes. Nokia Messaging has been updated, and Ovi Contacts added as a new program. Nokia has also managed to iron out both minor and major bugs of the operating system, the biggest of them seen in the following programs: Internet Radio, Quickoffice and Ovi Store. A feature previously only seen in the E72, Mail For Exchange, has also been added.

The update brings the version number up to 400.21.213. Update your phone via Nokia Software Update, or then via FOTA by entering the following code into your device *#0000#.
