TechCrunch today unveiled info that Microsoft’s phone experiment, the so called ‘Project Pink’ is dead. The aim for this project was to get a Microsoft branded mobile phone.

The project has gotten much publicity in the past month, but Steve Ballmer then denied all the rumors. After Ballmer’s statement the rumors still continued, but today it seems that we can stop talking about this project.

The best parts about this phone is definitely the screen and the CPU. The screen will be an enormus 4.3″ capacitive touch screen, and the CPU will be a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon. It will also have a 5MP camera with auto-focus.

The HD2 will be released later this month to selected European carriers, and around the world in the coming months.

nokia_e72_newAccording to a Finnish news site puhelinvertailu, the Nokia N72 will be delayed by almost two months.

The phone was originally supposed to be released late in the third quarter, in other words last month. Now it’s scheduled to be released during weeks 47-48. So the date has slipped from late September, to late November. This means that the earliest shipping date is now between November 16th and 29th.

I’m quite certain that this is accurate, since the dates came from a Nokia Online Store representative. Read the original posting here.

If you want to receive your E72 in the first batch, be sure to make a pre-order from Nokia’s Online Store.

Those of you who already have their hands on a new Windows Mobile 6.5 capable phone, head over to the Marketplace to check it out. The Marketplace was supposed to open tomorrow on the official launch day of Windows Mobile 6.5.

It’s quite rare that something gets released a head of it’s scheduled release. But I’m not complaining! :)
