Samsung SCH-W880 – A phone with a 12MP camera and a 3x optical zoom

Here’s a nice new phone leak from Samsung. Not sure if I should call this device a camera with a phone, or a phone with an excellent camera. Either way, the ‘device’ will feature a 12MP camera with a 3x optical zoom.

As you probably know, to achieve an optical zoom you would need to adjust spacing between lenses, resulting in a “normal” looking camera where the zoom is provided by lengthening/shortening the zoom itself.

Other so far known features are the 3.3″ AMOLED touch screen, HD video, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD slot and DMB for those who have mobile television support in their country.

iPhone to be available in China on October 1st

China Unicom will later today announced that the iPhone will be available in China on October 1st. The phone will cost 5,000 yuan without a contract, which is about 530€. With a contract the prices will range from 126 yuan to 886 yuan a month(13€ – 94€).

AT&T MMS down for some customers

It took two days for the MMS service to go down for AT&T customers. AT&T enabled MMS messaging for iPhone customers, and it has apparently resulted in a massive spike in network usage.

The whole MMS service isn’t down, it’s not just working for all customers. BGR called the customer care and got a response that there is a small latency issue in their MMS service. No estimate for a repair time was revealed.

ARCHOS phone tablet

ARCHOS is best known of their PMP devices, but now they’re trying to enter the phone market with their ARCHOS phone tablet.

It will run on Google Android OS, with a customized ARCHOS UI on top of it. The phone will come with a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor and a 4.3″ touch screen with a resolution of 854×480. At least the specs sounds good, and the fact that it will be running on Android is great!

SmartScreen for iPhone

This little app will enable widgets on the standby screen of your iPhone. Of course apps that have features like this are not allowed in the App Store, so you’d need a jailbroken iPhone for this to work. Let’s just hope that Apple will add features like this in future updates to the iPhone OS.

HTC HD2 TouchFLO 3D seen on video

The video shows a beta version of the TouchFLO 3D interface running on top of Windows Mobile 6.5, which will be seen on the coming HTC HD2 (formerly HTC Leo). The guys at PocketNow has managed to get this version installed on their Touch Diamond2. Check out the video after the break.

Here’s a few photos of the unreleased Philips Xenium K700 phone.

The phone will come with a full 2.8″ touch screen capable of WQVGA resolution, 3.2MP camera and a dedicated GPU(graphics processing unit). This phone will not be a global phone since it only has a EDGE chip inside of it. Because of the EDGE chip, it doesn’t use much power for standby. Philips promises a standby time of up to 1 month!
