Samsung developing their own Linux-based OS for smartphones?

samsung_omnia_hd_i8910A Finnish site called Puhelinvertailu today released an article that Samsung is developing their own Linux-based operating system for their smartphones. If the rumor is true, the Samsung Omnia HD(i8910) will be their last Symbian-based smartphone. The article cites a Samsung executive, Dong-hoon Chan, who confirmed the rumor for Telecoms Korea.

This is not surprising news since Nokia launched it’s first Linux-based smartphone yesterday, the N900. This system will possibly be a killer when you think about the way Samsung has made their TouchWiz UI for other platforms.
