This is a release I’ve been waiting for, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the iPhone!

“Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple’s new gaming platforms.”

The game should be available later this fall.

nokia_n900_48_lowresPuhelinvertailu.com has gotten intel that the N900 will not support MMS-messaging. Nokia said that this is because the target audience for the device normally uses services like Flicker and Facebook for sharing photos with each other. Another well known feature that will be missing is WAP. Even though it’s in almost every phone today, it’s not that widely used.

The lacking of MMS is quite weird when you remember what kind of whining there was when iPhone didn’t have it.. But, I personally think that it is nearly useless in the modern phones.

Nokia today finally admitted the problem with the camera-lens on the N97 model. It has been known for a long time that the lid is scratching the lens, but no official word has been said about it until today.

A Nokia spokesperson stated the following:

We have had a few reports where the camera-lens has been scratched by for instance sand grains . We are sorry for this. In these cases you should contact the Nokia support.

In a few cases the camera-lens has been mounted to near the protective glass of the lens. When this happens the space is too small between them, and for instance sand can cause scratches.

The article also states that if this has happened, you should take your phone to the nearest Nokia Service. The warranty service will not of course cost you anything. This time around, they’ll make sure that there is enough space between the lens and the protective glass.

China Unicom announced today, as expected, the deal with Apple. They made a 3-year contract on selling iPhones in China. The pricing of the phone is yet to be announced.

This is big news since China Unicom is the worlds largest operator. The rumors that circled the web a few weeks ago stated, that the deal was about 5 million iPhones. I guess we’ll see whether or not that many iPhones will be sold. They could sell way more than 5 million, or then again it could be a huge let-down just like Russia and India was.

The iPhone will be available in China in Q4.

samsung_omnia_hd_i8910A Finnish site called Puhelinvertailu today released an article that Samsung is developing their own Linux-based operating system for their smartphones. If the rumor is true, the Samsung Omnia HD(i8910) will be their last Symbian-based smartphone. The article cites a Samsung executive, Dong-hoon Chan, who confirmed the rumor for Telecoms Korea.

This is not surprising news since Nokia launched it’s first Linux-based smartphone yesterday, the N900. This system will possibly be a killer when you think about the way Samsung has made their TouchWiz UI for other platforms.

The Facebook application update just made it’s way to the App Store. The update didn’t show up in my updates section, but I had to install it manually. Read more about the changes in a previous post.
